Dr. Robert T. "Bob" McElroy

Bob McElroy is a retired general surgeon and founder of the Tallgrass Surgical Group in Topeka. He is a native Topekan who graduated from Kansas State University and the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He was trained in surgery in California and spent 35 years in private surgical practice.

Bob has spent time in Africa, Haiti, Nicaragua and other developing nations working as a mission surgeon and teaching. Bob works with and helps support a group in Nicaragua that supervises medical clinics in very rural or remote areas. He also serves on the board of a group in Mississippi through Mendenhall Ministries and on the Central Baptist Theologic Seminary board.

Bob is a member of the Topeka Audubon Society and a charter member of the Audubon of Kansas Board of Trustees. Bob has become knowledgeable about the important issues involving Audubon and the environment. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and as Chairman of the Development Committee. He has also volunteered his time working at the Hutton Sanctuary several times with Ron.

Bob is an accomplished boat builder and enjoys sailing, hunting, and nature.
