Elsie is a retired elementary teacher, and lives in Altamont. She
graduated from Pittsburg State University.
Elsie comes from a long line of tree planters, and enjoys nature,
wildflowers, plants, and birds. Elsie enjoys visiting places like
Black Mesa, Eagle Nest, New Mexico, Cimarron Grasslands and many
other interesting places around that area.
She has been her chapter’s representative to the Audubon
Council, and then to the Audubon of Kansas for many years. Elsie
is a charter Audubon of Kansas board member, and has enjoyed visiting
Ted Turner’s ranch near Medicine Lodge, Nature Conservancy’s
Smoky Hill Ranch, The Konza Prairie, Monument Rocks, Schemerhorn
Park at Galena, and Red Buffalo Ranch--just to name a few. Elsie
is never bored, and enjoys reading, sewing, trying out new recipes,
and traveling.
We invite you to participate and contribute to our conservation
efforts and keep Audubon of Kansas moving forward. Your tax-deductible
contributions and volunteer efforts sustain our non-profit organization
and are essential to all aspects of our work—from advocacy,
legislative liaison, education, and support of wildlife-friendly
landowners, to our office staff, publications and website. We
need your commitment!
