Both non-hunters and hunting enthusiasts find a lot to agree on
in Audubon of Kansas. Both want a vibrant wildlife population and
contribute resources to help conserve and protect wildlife. Both
also generally support hunting regulations and penalties for those
who don’t hunt fair.
During the spring 2005 Kansas Legislative session, Audubon of Kansas
worked with a coalition of land owners, hunters, and other conservation
groups to introduce House Bill 2253, a measure to impose minimum
fines and jail times for wildlife violations. AOK Executive Director
Ron Klataske presented a statement to the Senate Natural Resources
Committee on March 10, 2005, in support of House Bill 2253. The
bill was signed by the governor on May 9th and became effective
on July 1st of 2005.
