AOK Committees

Development Committee

It might not sound like the most glamorous area of conservation work but anything that you want Audubon of Kansas to work on has to be supported in some way. In fact, we'd like to be working faster, harder and on more projects than what we are now. Audubon of Kansas pursues and receives support from a number of sources. Perhaps you can help us secure the help and money that we need.

We are extremely dependent on volunteer help. Every member of our Board of Trustees is a volunteer and every member of our paid staff has contributed volunteer time to our program. Volunteers represent us at community events. Volunteers contribute articles, help to proofread and help distribute our publications. One of our newest projects, the Kansas Wildlife and Natural Heritage Trail project (www.kansaswildlifetrails.com), asks for volunteers to visit interesting sites in Kansas and contribute photos and descriptions for display on our web site. Give us an idea of what you like to do and perhaps we can find a task for you! (Volunteer enrollment form).

Audubon of Kansas also needs money for normal operating expenses and special projects. Although our staff is dedicated, they still have families to support, bills to pay and mouths to feed. Newsletters cost money to print and mail, computers and copy machines need supplies and power to operate.

Most of our contributors are individuals who make donations ranging from a few dollars to a few thousand dollars each year. Perhaps you can help us by asking one of your friends and neighbors to send a small contribution to join our cause. It should go without saying but if every one of our members got one other member to join we'd soon be twice as big! (Membership Application).

What would you like to do to help? (Volunteer Enrollment Form)
