2019 Celebration of Cranes

The Celebration of Cranes was hugely successful, with dawn and dusk tours sold out and 94 visitors and volunteers in attendance.   Lucky participants saw thousands of Sandhill Cranes, plus a family of Whooping Cranes, a mom and dad and their rust-colored chick.  That family was joined by an unattached female who was not always welcomed by the mated pair!   The mid-day hours between crane-viewing tours were enjoyably spent with boxed lunches and three speakers--experts on Sandhill Cranes, Whooping Cranes, and the geology of Quivira.
