This event will take place at Bird Runner Wildlife Refuge (a Legacy Sanctuary of Audubon of Kansas), from 6 p.m. to Starlight. Join Audubon of Kansas the first weekend of November at Quivira National Wildlife Refuge for our second annual Celebration of Cranes. After icy roads forced the cancellation of the January event, Kaw Valley Eagles Day has been rescheduled for February 16, 2019!
The 23rd Annual Kaw Valley Eagles Day is a free event for the whole family! There will be arts and crafts, informational booths, presentations, live bald and golden eagles and other wild critters, a hike through the wetlands, and eagle-viewing field trips. Come for an hour or the whole day: you won't be disappointed!
The annual Kaw Valley Eagles Day is sponsored by the Jayhawk Audubon Society, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Unified School District 497 to celebrate the return of bald eagles to area lakes and rivers.
Join the Northern Flint Hills Audubon Society for a public talk by Dr. Ryan Klataske about his research in southern Africa and its relevance to conservation issues and efforts in the Great Plains. Dr. Ryan Klataske is a cultural anthropologist and conservationist. He teaches anthropology at Kansas State University and works for Audubon of Kansas.
Join the Jayhawk Audubon Society in Lawrence for a talk by Rex Buchanan on “Water Issues and the Quivira National Wildlife Refuge.” Rex Buchanan is Director Emeritus of the Kansas Geological Survey (KGS), based at KU, and is currently the Director of the Consortium to Study Trends in Seismicity at the KGS.
