Witness one of nature’s wonders as Sandhill Cranes and critically-endangered Whooping Cranes migrate through central Kansas in November. Experience the incredible beauty of this ancient migration. Learn more about how Quivira National Wildlife Refuge (Quivira or QNWR) provides a crucial inland salt marsh and stopover point for these birds.

Registration

Registration includes:

  • Self-Guided Birding Tour Materials for Quivira
  • Invitation to Friday evening Reception: Cranes & Craft Brews at The Lumberyard on 56 in Lyons, Kansas with a special tap takeover by Sandhills Brewing in Hutchinson, Kansas
  • Saturday Lunch at Sterling College
  • Admission to Saturday Speaker Sessions at Sterling College

Evening and morning tours will follow similar routes, but please note that weather conditions and bird activity may vary between them. Feel free to attend one tour or join us for all of them!

Additionally, be sure to join us for a complimentary lunch and insightful speakers!

This event is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for all ages and abilities. Participants should be able to navigate a few stairs at the college buildings. If a guided tour is selected, the ability to safely enter and exit a large passenger van will be necessary. Otherwise, all walking paths are even and easily traversable.

  • Early Bird Registration (early Sept - mid Oct): Adults: $20 | Youth: $10
  • Full-Price Registration (mid Oct - early Nov): Adults: $35 | Youth: $12
  • Guided Van Tour: $25/seat (limited and subject to availability)
